Wrinkles refer to the ridges or creases in the skin as a result of deterioration of the skin’s elastic tissue. Although these lines or furrows may also appear anywhere in the skin, they are more common in the neck, the face, at the back of hands, and the top of forehead.
Several factors have been identified to stimulate wrinkle development. What causes wrinkles?:
- Aging – Wrinkles appear as people get older.
- Smoking – It reduces blood supply to the skin.
- Too much facial muscle contraction – It may create grooves under the skin.
- Exposure to sun – Ultraviolet light from the sun speeds up skin’s aging.
- Heredity
