How long until I see results?

What is Vein Treatment?

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure to treat uncomplicated spider veins and reticular veins. The Asclera treatment involves the injection of a solution into the affected vein, which causes the vein to collapse and eventually be reabsorbed by the body. It works by damaging the endothelium (the inside lining of blood vessels). Eventually, cellular debris and platelets cause the blood vessel to clot. Over time, the clotted vein will be replaced with tissue. For most of our patients, 2 to 3 treatments are needed to see ideal results. While some lasers are designed to treat these veins, in our experience, these laser treatments work better on the veins of the face, especially around the nose and cheeks while Asclera is optimal for the rest of your body.

Asclera works best on:

Uncomplicated spider veins (very small varicose veins 1 mm in diameter)
Uncomplicated small varicose veins (1 to 3 mm in diameter) known as reticular veins

Who are the Best Candidates for PRP?

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this treatment for you if you have been diagnosed with Hepatitis C, HIV or AIDS, any type of blood cancer, or skin cancer in the area to be treated. Also, if you have been using Accutane for the previous six months, have wounds or infections, have undergone radiation in the past year, or are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, you may need to wait until the time is right before getting the PRP treatment.

What to Expect on the Day of Vein Treatment

On the day of your Vein removal Treatment, we go the distance to ensure your comfort. While in a laydown position with your legs slightly elevated, we will begin to sanitize the targeted area. Our technician will then use a small gauge needle to gradually inject Asclera solution into the vein. There may be a slight pricking or spasming sensation that may arise upon needle insertion. Following needle removal, we will exert pressure and massage the site to impede blood flow and disperse the solution. It may be beneficial to attach a dressing to the injection site, ensuring sustained pressure while preparing for treatment of the subsequent vein. A typical session lasts 15 to 45 minutes. Generally, 1 to 3 injections may be necessary to treat a given spider or reticular vein.

Vein Treatment Recovery

Shortly after the procedure, individuals can typically move about. This mobility is essential, as it aids in preventing the formation of blood clots. Wearing compression stockings or bandages for roughly two weeks post-treatment can provide continuous pressure to the affected veins. It is recommended to refrain from shaving or applying lotion to the treated area until it has fully healed.

In most cases, individuals can resume their regular daily activities on the same day as the procedure; however, we recommend planning for transportation to and from our Med Spa. Please avoid exposing the treated areas to the sun for the two weeks following the procedure or use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30.
