What’s the First Step?

When you come into our office, you will have your head examined and also be able to discuss your best options for hair restoration. They will also discuss your medical history to make sure that you have no conditions that will impede your healing process. What to Expect on the Day of Hair Restoration

When you come in for your Hair Restoration treatment, we will first withdraw the appropriate amount of blood to create your PRP injections. The blood will be put into a vial and placed into the centrifuge to separate the injectable from the rest of your blood. Once this has been done, the separated material will be strategically injected into areas of your scalp where your hair is thinning or lost. We can offer a topical numbing ointment or local anesthetic to make your experience more comfortable if needed. After the provider is finished with the procedure, any excess blood or fluid will be gently cleaned off before you leave.

Hair Restoration Recovery

There isn’t much of a “recovery” following your Hair Restoration treatments. You will be able to do most things as normal, albeit you may need to be slightly more considerate of your growing follicles during the initial stages of your recovery. You will be able to shower and wash your hair as soon as you get home, however, you should try to be very gentle when rubbing your head. The first few hours after your session, your scalp will appear a little pink or red in the treatment area, but this should subside in about 24 hours.

Your old hair will begin to fall out as your new hair grows in, but this is completely normal and a part of the process. We strongly advise against returning to your usual hair maintenance (i.e. blow drying, coloring, curling, etc.) for the first few days, just to avoid damaging your newly stimulated hair. Also, avoid using an ice pack to soothe any discomfort as it can inhibit PRP activity. If you do have any soreness, you can treat it with over-the-counter pain medication.
